What should I wear?

Wear anything you are comfortable moving in that gives you a full range of motion. Many students wear stretchy pants and short-sleeved or sleeveless tops. The class is active, so be prepared to sweat! Unless you need to wear (non-marking) shoes, you’ll be dancing barefoot.

What should I bring?

Bring a bottle of water and payment for the class, if necessary. Most important, bring your curious mind and a desire to have fun!

What should I expect?

Expect to have fun! Most of us felt apprehensive before our first classes and were surprised by how glad we were that we came!

When can I start?

In most venues, you can start anytime. Classes are typically on-going, and personalized through three levels (1, 2 & 3), i.e., we cater to beginners as well as advanced students in every class.

What experience do I need?

None! If you can move, you can do Nia!

What does it cost?

Rates vary (slightly) by venue. Please see “venue” link for rate and membership information.

How can I make the most out of my experience?

Arrive 10 minutes before the class. Don’t arrive hungry or with a full stomach. Drink water before class so you are well-hydrated before you begin.

I’m really uncoordinated/I’m really out of shape/I can’t dance…variations on this theme…Is this class suitable for me?

Yes! This is a great question that we hear often. This class is perfect for unfit and uncoordinated participants. Many people who come to class consider themselves in this category. The teacher guides the choreography; students personalize movements to maximize their experience of comfort and joy.
